When I started this blog over two years ago I did not have high expectations concerning the traffic it would attract. There are simply a whole lot of really good blogs and forums out there. The most successful blog in Sweden that I knew about at that time was Innan det Sker / Endast Sverige Svenska Preppers Har. This was the blog that I personally aimed to maybe match some day when it came to number of hits I could expect. From the time that I started writing the blog in October 2008 up until the end of 2010 the traffic levels was quite moderate. It was first when I started to organize the material that I written into The Free Online Guide that I started to notice a significant difference.
I am not sure if I have truly matched the hits of the blog that I was aiming for but believe that I am at least close. I am still a universe apart from the largest blogs on the web like James Wesley Rawles Survival Blog but for me this has been a relatively successful project and I am glad that some of the readers find the Guide useful. Other new Swedish Blogs have also emerged during this time like my favorite Swedish Blog Preppers. Other new Swedish blogs like the newly started blog BugOut.se also show great promise.
I would like to thank everyone that has helped me to get to this point. A special thanks goes out to Kev and all the people at the Survivalist Boards that has given me the greatest support, especially during the early time of my efforts. I would also like to American Preppers Network (APN), all the other forums and all the reader that has told their friends about this blog through e-mail and Facebook. Thank You.

March Survivalist Boards Giveaway – Count Me In!

The Survivalist Boards was founded by Kev how also written the “Survival Gear Reviews and Forum” Blog. SB is most likely the largest forum on the web about Survivalism and Prepping.
The Blog has been doing well since I put The Free Online Survival Guide together and I would like to thank some of the blogs that have helped me and published some of my articles. The Free Online Survival Guide
So after writing articles here on the blog and at The Survivalist Boards for over one year I have completed a number of different articles on various subjects related to survival. This is the first basic structure of The Free Online Survival Guide. I will keep working on it, adding more information and new articles. It’s my intention to provide a free resource for anyone hows interested in the field of survival, crisis preparedness and survivalism.
I would like to thank all members of The Survivalist Boards for their advice and the insights that they have brought to different subject. I have enjoyed writing the articles and hope that some people will find them useful. I’m hoping that we will eventually get a Survival Wiki on the boards so that we can start writing articles and guides together in a more structured and organized way, I really believe that such a tool could take the Boards to the next level.

Introduction to Evacuation and Bug Out Tactics
The Bug Out Bag (BOB) is a vital tool for many survivalists. The BOB is a tool intended to make it help an individual survive the evacuation and transport to a safer area or location. Examples of scenarios that can require evacuation are hurricanes, earthquakes, dam breaks or the meltdown of a nuclear power plant.
What a BOB should contain is a debated subject among survivalists and at forums like the Survivalist Boards. What you need is specific for your location and your context. Do you live urban or wilderness setting? What kind of climate do you live in? Is there access to clean water from rivers and lakes? Can you carry a heavy bag over long distances? These are some examples of questions that will affect what kind of equipment you will need. There is no concept or list of equipment that’s perfect for all settings.
Three Different Perspectives
1.) The First Guide for Bug Out Bags is designed for people how live in remote locations where no or little help can expected and the individual must be self reliant. This is also what I would suggest that you pack if you go on a long hiking trip.
2.) The Second Guide focuses on how you can build a low weight Bug Out Bag that can be more appropriate for people how live in warm climate or urban setting. This is also a bag that can be carried as an Every Day Carry bag.
3.) The Third Guide focuses on evacuation from a group perspective. If a group of individuals evacuate or go for a long hiking trip what equipment should they bring and what equipment can they share. This post also focuses on the advantages and disadvantages of group travel.
The first approach is a maximum approach where the individual will have a high number of items that can help to deal with an emergency, the second approach is a minimum approach intended to keep the number of items and weight as low as possible. This is only suggestions, for your specific situation it may be a good idea to either follow some of these guidelines or try to combine the minimum and maximum approach. The most important aspect is that you try your bag out in your location so that you know what works and what don’t. This is also critical so that you learn how to use your equipment; a fire steel is of little use if you don’t know how to use it, the same goes for a GPS, compass, tent or multi-fuel stove. With knowledge and skills you can learn how to make do with less equipment and survive even if you don’t have a fully equipped emergency kit.
3.) Season
Most settings have some seasonal variation when it comes to temperature, rainfall and wind. If your seasonal variations are large you might have to adjust your Bug Out Bag from season to season in order to make sure that it will perform as desired during an evacuation scenario.
4.) The Process of Building a Bug Out Bag
I would recommend that you do not view your Bug Out Bag as a fixed concept but rather as a dynamic changing concept. I also recommend that you use as much of the same gear as possible when you go on hiking, hunting, fishing or camping trips since this gives you the opportunity to test the equipment and learn how to use it. It’s also important that you adjust your bag as your situation and personal settings change.

Introduction - Westfalia and Sibi Totique
I’m a man around thirty year of age the lives in the northern part o Scandinavia. I have always been interested in hunting, camping, hiking, fishing, outdoors activities and survival. I’m currently studying for my master degree in political science. In my Blog I try to combine the best from my interest in survival with the perspectives I have gained through my studies. It’s my hope that by using this perspective I can add something to new to field of survival and crisis preparedness. The name that I have chosen for my alias is a name game for Westphalia, or more exactly the Peace of Westphalia 1648 that marked the end of the Thirty Years War. This peace marks the beginning of the modern international system with sovereign states for many scholars.
The name of the blog Sibi Totique is Latin and can be translated to “For Himself and Everyone”. This motto was used by Benedict Arnold for a store that he used to own. Arnold was a central figure during the American Revolution. In the beginning of the revolution Benedict played a very central part in the struggle for independence only to later betray the cause that he initially fought for. Had Arnold died when he was wounded in the Battle for Saratoga he would most likely have been remembered as one of the greatest patriots in American history, but instead he is now forever remembered as a traitor to the cause. For me Arnold represent both the best and the worst of human nature; Hero, Traitor and Patriot. An imperfect man that represents the best and worse in all of us, I do not agree with everything Arnold did but I do think that something can be learned from the motto Sibi Totique.
I initially started the Blog because of the lack of possibility to edit older posts on the Survivalistboards. My goal with this blog is to take a deeper look at the threats and risks that exists in today’s world and present different perspectives and solutions for these problems. The information on the blog will always be free for those how would like to access it. If you would like to make a reference to any of the information on the blog I would like that you present where you have found this information. I hope that that the people how read this blog will be able to find some of the information useful and that you will gain some new perspectives and ideas. The Information on this page only represents my own opinion and not the opinion of anyone else. Suggestions for different subjects that you would like me to cover on the blog are always welcome. Feedback, good or bad is also welcome. The Survivalist Boards
I would like to take the opportunity to recommend the forum The Survivalist Boards (SB). This forum is most likely the largest survivalist and preparedness forum on the web with thousands of members from all over the world with the motto “Endure, Adapt, Overcome” . The Forum contains threads about most survival related topics, advice and reviews on equipment and many other topics. The Forum is organized in different categories with General Information, Man-Made and Natural Disasters, Wilderness Survival, Urban Survival, Financial Information, Farming, Health and Firearms. The forum also has special sections for women, general discussions and jokes. The Forum recently introduced the “The Dark Side” where very few restrictions for language and content, a section disliked by some and loved by others. There is information on SB that would interest most people how are interested in survival and crisis preparedness, the only down part is that it can be hard to find the relevant post and threads when much information tend to be flooded in the large amount of posts and threads. Kev the founder of SB also has a channel on You Tube and a Blog where he present reviews on survival equipment and survival advice.

The value of the products is around 6000 dollars and the prices ranges from water purification filters to books, emergency ration, knives, solar chargers and grain mills. Safecastle is one of many stores that have started to specialize in selling equipment for survival and crisis situations, other stores is for example Red Barn and The Ready Store. This seems to be a rapidly increasing market where many high quality items can be found. The internet stores often provide low prices, however I recommend that you look for reviews on equipment and if possible check it out at a regular store before you make your purchases.
